Grizzlies Can Grow On You

Filming wildlife is not all “up before dawn” and waiting for sunsets to happen. Sometimes it’s about serendipity, that one moment you aren’t looking for. You had nothing planned, you were just there — in the right spot and the right moment. Of course, . . . planning doesn’t hurt either! If you’re heart beats faster for the four-legged and furry, then you probably dream of seeing a grizzly bear in the wild and not having to worry about being attacked. Folks, I’m here to tell you, that all the planning in the world may not help you with this one with the exception of going to the Katmai penninsula during salmon spawning.

Have Camera, Will Travel – “But I Know I’m Forgetting Something!”

It’s not at all uncommon to pack up the camera gear and spend a couple of hours heading to a great site for several hours of photography. It’s not even uncommon to plan a weekend trip within driving distance. But seven days . . . or ten days . . . or even two weeks . . . now that’s a different story all together. Planning for those short jaunts is nothing by comparison to planning a full-fledged photographic journey.
